Repair Procedure
NOTE:DOOR GLASS ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES ARE FOUND IN VOLUME 1 OF THE SEBRING/STRATUS COUPE SERVICE MANUAL (GROUP 8S).
Symptom/Condition 1 - Upstop Bumpers (Built Prior To 3/7/01)
1. Remove the door trim panel.
2. Lower the window to gain access to the upstop bumpers (attached to the glass) and coat the upper surface of the bumpers (Fig. 1) with weatherstrip lubricant (Krytox) p/n 04773427.
3. If no other symptom/conditions exist, re-install the door panel.
Symptom/Condition 2 - Lower Sash (Built Prior To 2/15/01).
1. Remove the door trim panel.
2. Lubricate the rear lower sash with silicone spray p/n 04318070 (Fig. 2).
3. Lower the glass and check that the glass is positioned in the center of the sash (parallel to glass travel). If necessary make adjustments to center the sash to the glass (Fig. 3).
4. If no other symptom/conditions exist, re-install the door panel.
Symptom/Condition 3 - Inner Belt Line Molding (Built Prior To 1/26/01).
1. The inner belt line molding was re-designed (Fig. 4) to reduce pressure on the glass.
2. Replace the inner belt line molding Left p/n MR271759 or Right p/n MR271760 if necessary as follows:
a. Remove the door trim panel.
b. Mark the forward or rearward edge of the belt line molding on the door panel for reference.
c. Lift the edge ot the molding up and rotate/roll it off the door trim panel (Fig. 5).
d. Using the reference mark in step b, start the molding on the door trim panel and rotate/roll the new molding onto the panel.
e. If no other symptom/conditions exist, re-install the door panel.
Symptom/Condition 4 - Lower Door Bumper (Built Prior To 2/16/01).
1. Isolate the lower bumper from the body surface with a piece of paper. Open and close the door a few times. If the noise is gone, check for proper door striker setting. The door's rear edge should be flush to the body (no underflush condition should exist).
2. If the door's rear edge is flush to the body, replace the lower door bumper with p/n MB402060 (Fig. 6).
3. Verify that the sound is eliminated and the rear edge of the door is flush to the body after bumper replacement.
