REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

ADHESIVE TAPE POSITION

REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS

<> ROOF DRIP MOLDING REMOVAL

CAUTION: If the molding becomes deformed, it should not be re-used.

Use special tool MB990449 to pry out the molding.

<> PROTECT MOLDING REMOVAL

Gently lift and remove the protect molding. If there is any double-sided tape remaining on the protect molding, remove the tape according to the following instructions.

1. Attach protection tape all the way along the edges of the double-sided tape which is still adhering to the body.

2. Use a resin spatula to scrape off the double-sided tape.
3. Peel off the protection tape.
4. Wipe the body surface and clean it with a rag moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

1. Scrape off the double-sided tape with a resin spatula or gasket scraper.
2. Use a shop towel moistened with 3M(TM) AAD Part number 8906 or equivalent to wipe the protect molding surface.

CAUTION: Do not remove all of the residual adhesive.

3. Remove only a small portion of the residual adhesive.

CAUTION:
- Always apply the primer evenly on the entire surface, because a lot or little will reduce its strength.
- Do not touch the painted surface.

4. Soak a sponge in the 3M(TM) AAD Part number 8608 Super Fast Urethane Primer or equivalent, and apply the primer evenly to the protect molding.
5. After applying the primer, let the protect molding dry for 3 to 30 minutes.
6. Affix the specified double-sided tape to the protect molding.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS

>>A<< PROTECT MOLDING INSTALLATION

1. Tear off the double-sided tape backing paper.

NOTE: If you attach the adhesive tape to the edge of the backing paper, if will be easy to tear off.

2. Install the moldings.

NOTE: If the double-sided tape is difficult to affix in cold temperature, etc., warm the bonding surfaces of the body and the protect molding to about 40 - 60 degrees C (104 - 140 degrees F) before affixing the tape.

3. Firmly press in the protect molding.

Install the clip to the roof drip molding before installing the molding to the vehicle body. For the applicable location of clips.
