Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Intermittent Operation

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves testing the RKE System and if necessary replacing the defective FOB.

MODELS:

2001 (ST) Sebring/Stratus Coupe

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO MARCH 15, 2001 (MDH0315XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

One or both of the RKE transmitters may operate intermittently. This intermittent operation may be more noticeable when the doors are being un-locked.

DIAGNOSIS:

Confirm the condition by attempting to unlock the doors with the RKE transmitter within the operating range of 3.96 m (13 ft). If the doors unlock occasionally or if you must operate the transmitter at a very close range for the doors to unlock, perform the Repair Procedure.

IF THE VEHICLE IS SUNROOF EQUIPPED AND BUILT PRIOR TO AUGUST 7, 2000 (MDH0807XX) MAKE SURE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001-01 DATED JAN. 19, 2001 DOES NOT APPLY OR HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

1. Replace the transmitter(s) with p/n MR587753.

2. Verify proper operation prior to returning the vehicle to the owner.
