Towing Information: Service and Repair

STANDARD PROCEDURE - TOWING

To avoid damage to the front fascia and grille use of a flat bed towing device is recommended. DO NOT attempt to tow the vehicle from the front or the rear. Towing from the front is not possible without sustaining damage to the nose/front fascia due to the extended distance between the wheels and the pointed nose/front fascia. Towing from the rear is also not possible due to the interference from the trans cooler.

Flat bed towing should be the only method used for the Plymouth Prowler. The flat bed must have an approach angle less then 13.3° or something must be used (such as wood slats) to raise the overall height of the vehicle during loading (Fig. 9).

Locked Vehicle Towing
When a locked vehicle must be towed with the front wheels on the ground, use a towing dolly or flat bed hauler.

Flat Bed Towing Tie Downs
Nylon straps should be placed around the Prowler tie down points for shipping to prevent damage to the frame. The haul away trailer's tie down hooks and chains can then be connected to these straps. The following four figures represent the tie down locations with the straps installed (Fig. 10), (Fig. 11), (Fig. 12), and (Fig. 13).
