Cylinder Head Assembly
The cylinder head bolts are tightened using a torque plus angle procedure. The bolts must be examined BEFORE reuse. If the threads are necked down the bolts must be replaced (Fig. 24).

- Tighten bolts starting at the center working outward to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.) (Fig. 161).
Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield-Bolts 12 N (105 inch lbs.)
Flex plate to Crankshaft 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.)
Flex plate to Torque Converter 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.)
Intake Manifold - Lower 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.)
