Power Transfer Unit
REMOVAL1. Remove right halfshaft assembly.
2. Remove engine cradle crossmember
3. Remove propeller shaft assembly.
4. Remove PTU/rear mount bracket (Fig. 1).
5. Remove oil pan-to-transaxle collar (Fig. 2).
6. Remove heat shield (Fig. 3).
7. Remove bracket and brace (Fig. 3).
8. Remove PTU-to-transaxle upper bolts (Fig. 3).
9. Remove PTU-to-bracket lower bolts (Fig. 4).
10. Remove PTU from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Install PTU lower bracket.
2. Install PTU-to-transaxle upper bolts and torque to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) (Fig. 3).
3. Install PTUinto position. Install two (2) lower PTU-to-bracket bolts and torque to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) (Fig. 192).
4. Install brace and bracket (Fig. 3).
5. Install PTU heat shield (Fig. 194).
6. Install PTU/rear mount bracket. Install and torque six (6) bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). (Fig. 194).
7. Torque oil pan-to-transaxle collar bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) (Fig. 2).
8. Install propeller shaft assembly.
9. Install right halfshaft assembly.
10. Install engine cradle crossmember.
11. Check and adjust PTU Fluid level. The PTU holds 1.0L (2.1 pts.) of Mopers 75W-90 Gear and Axle Lubricant.
