Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: Refer to the applicable warnings and cautions for this system before performing the following operation. Failure to follow the warnings and cautions could result in possible personal injury or death.
NOTE: The A/C liquid line is serviced in two sections. The rear section of the liquid line is serviced as an assembly with the rear section of the A/C suction line.
FRONT SECTION
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system.
3. Remove the air cleaner housing.
4. Raise and support the vehicle.
5. Remove the front belly pan.
6. Remove the nut (3) that secures the front section of the A/C liquid line (4) to the A/C condenser (5).
7. Disconnect the A/C liquid line from the A/C condenser and remove and discard the dual plane seal.
8. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened liquid line fitting and condenser outlet port.
NOTE: LHD model shown. RHD model similar.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Remove the nut (1) that secures the front section of the A/C liquid line (2) to the rear section of the liquid line (3).
11. Disconnect the front section of the A/C liquid line from the rear section of the liquid line and remove and discard the dual plane seal.
12. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened liquid line fittings.
13. Remove the front section of the A/C liquid line from the engine compartment.
REAR SECTION
NOTE: LHD model shown. RHD model similar.
14. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
15. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system.
16. On LHD models, remove the air cleaner housing.
17. Remove the nut (6) that secures the front section of the A/C liquid line (8) to the rear section of the liquid line (10).
18. Disconnect the front section of the A/C liquid line from the rear section of the liquid line and remove and discard the dual plane seal.
19. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened liquid line fittings.
20. Remove the nut (7) that secures the front section of the A/C suction line (9) to the rear section of the suction line (12).
21. Disconnect the front section of the A/C suction line from the rear section of the suction line and remove and discard the dual plane seal.
22. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened suction line fittings.
23. Disconnect the wire harness (3) from the A/C pressure transducer (2).
24. Remove the bolt (5) that secures the refrigerant line mounting bracket to the left front shock tower (4).
25. Remove the nut (11) that secures the liquid and suction line tapping block (13) to the A/C expansion valve (1).
26. Disconnect the rear section of the A/C liquid and suction lines from the A/C expansion valve.
27. Remove the dual plane seal from the suction and liquid line fittings and discard.
28. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened suction and liquid line fittings and the expansion valve ports.
29. Remove the rear section of the A/C liquid and suction lines as an assembly from the engine compartment.
30. If required, remove the A/C pressure transducer from the rear section of the A/C liquid line.
