Rattle Sound in Sunroof Area

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing sunroof frame retainer bolts.

MODELS:

2005 - 2007 (LX) 300/Magnum/Charger

2006 - 2007 (LE) 300C/300C Touring (International Markets)

2007 (L2) 300 (China)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The vehicle operator may experience a rattle sound coming from the sunroof area while driving on a bumpy road.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the vehicle operator describes the Symptom/Condition and the rattle can be duplicated, Pull the headliner down and inspect for any loose sunroof frame retainer bolts. If any of the bolts are loose, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
During the following procedures, it is NOT necessary to remove the seat from the vehicle or completely remove the headliner as described in some of the procedures in DealerCONNECT > Service Information. Lower the headliner just enough to gain access to the sunroof frame bolts.

1. Lower the headliner enough to gain access to the sunroof frame bolts. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under:

Service Info > 23 - BODY > INTERIOR > HEADLINER > REMOVAL.

2. Remove and replace all sunroof frame retainer bolts one at a time and replace with p/n 06101455. Hand tighten only at this time.

3. After all bolts have been installed, Torque all bolts to 10 N-m (88 In Lbs).





4. After all bolts have been torqued, torque the 4 center bolts, (2 bolts on each side), callout # 2 in (Fig. 1) to 20 N-m (177 In. Lbs.).

5. Install the headliner. Refer to the detailed installation procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 23 - Body > Interior > Headliner> Installation.
