Removal






REMOVAL

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.





3. Remove the rear axle halfshaft nut (1).





4. Remove the disc brake calipers and bolts (1).




5. Remove the rear disc brake rotor (1).





NOTE: Do not use the wheel lug bolts to mount the special tool to the halfshaft flange. Use three 12 x 1.25 x 32 mm bolts.

6. Using the Special Tool 6790 Hub Puller, along with the C-637CF Slide Hammer, Remove the rear axle halfshaft flange.

7. Remove the rear knuckle assembly.




8. Remove the snap ring (4) from the rear knuckle assembly.




9. Using the Special Tool 9199 Hub Bearing Remover/Installer, remove the bearing (4) from the knuckle (2).


NOTE: This step may not be necessary if the inner wheel bearing race remains in the wheel bearing after removing the axle halfshaft flange.




10. Using the Special Tool 1126 Splitter, press the inner wheel bearing race from the rear axle halfshaft flange.

11. Check the lateral and radial runout of the rear axle halfshaft flange. Replace rear axle halfshaft flange if test values are exceeded.
- Permissible lateral runout 0.0011 in. (0.03 mm).
- Permissible radial runout 0.0011 in. (0.03 mm).
