OPERATION
The Universal Garage Door Opener/Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) module (1) has a microprocessor controller that can monitor the transmissions from the Tire Pressure Sensors/Transmitters anytime the Ignition is ON.
The TPM module compares the transmitted tire pressure from the Tire Sensors to the predetermined low pressure threshold. If the transmitted value falls below the low pressure threshold, the TPM module will alert the driver.
The following conditions will cause the TPM module to illuminate the "Low Tire" indicator lamp in the Instrument Cluster:
- If the TPM module determines that the tire pressure being transmitted is below the low pressure threshold, the low tire pressure indicator lamp circuit is grounded and the TPM module turns on the "Low Tire" pressure indicator lamp.
- Under certain driving conditions, the sensors will go into a "sleep" mode and stop regular transmissions. This interruption in signals will cause the TPM module to turn on the light. The light will be illuminated until the vehicle starts moving at a regular speed again. At that point, the light will go out, and the TPM will resume normal operation.
- When the TPM module determines there is a fault present, the low tire pressure indicator lamp circuit is grounded and the TPM module turns on the "Low Tire" pressure indicator lamp. A DTC will be stored during this time.
