1982 - 83 MODELS
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Scribe alignment marks on hood and hood hinge, then remove hood.
3. Drain cooling system, then disconnect radiator hoses at radiator and engine.
4. Remove radiator and fan shroud, then remove air cleaner.
5. If equipped with A/C, remove compressor from the mounting bracket and position aside with the hoses attached.
6. Remove power steering pump from mounting bracket and position aside with the hoses attached, if equipped.
7. Drain crankcase and remove the oil filter.
8. Disconnect the wire connectors at the alternator, carburetor and engine.
9. Disconnect fuel line, heater hose and the accelerator cable.
10. Remove alternator from mounting bracket and position aside.
11. On models equipped with manual transmission, disconnect clutch cable, then remove transmission lower cover.

12. Disconnect exhaust pipe at the manifold, then remove the starter motor.
13. On models equipped with automatic transmission, remove transmission case lower cover and place alignment marks on the flexplate and torque converter. Remove converter to flexplate attaching screws. Attach a C-clamp to the front lower position of the housing so as to retain the torque converter in the housing when removing the engine.
14. On all models, install a suitable transmission holding fixture and attach a suitable lifting device.
15. Remove right hand inner splash shield, then disconnect ground strap.
16. Remove righthand engine mount through bolts.
17. Remove transmission case-to-engine-block attaching bolts.
18. Remove front engine mount bolt.
19. On 1983 vehicles with manual transmission, remove anti-roll strut.
20. On all models, carefully lift engine from vehicle.
21. Reverse procedure to install.
