SYMPTOM/CONDITION

1. Surge at steady highway cruising speeds.

2. Engine bucking during deceleration from road speed.

2 - In-Line Connectors (1/8" to 3/16") NPN
1 - Vacuum Tee (1/8" x 3/16" x 1/8") PN 4006584

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Fold back the plastic tubing from the hoses attached to the coolant switches and cut approximately 3-1/2" from the coolant switches (2" from the front clip holding the vacuum harness to the air pump pulley cover) (Figure 1).

2. Cut three 1/2" sections of 3/16" hose from bulk stock PN 4105167 and install on the three nipples of the vacuum reducer valve. To the hoses attached to the white nipples, install the in-line connectors with the large end to the hose. On the remaining hose install the large nipple of the vacuum tee (Figure 1).
3. On the vacuum hose harness of the engine the plastic tubing should just cover the point where the vacuum hoses are taped together. Locate the blue striped hose and cut it 1" from the tape band, between the band and the coolant switch, and insert the vacuum tee from the vacuum reducer valve sub-assembly in Step 2.

4. Locate the white striped hose and cut 1" from the tape band between the band and the coolant switch. Insert either of the in-line connectors. Route the cut white striped hose attached to the coolant switch connector over the fuel lines and connect to the remaining in-line connector (Figure 1).

5. Start engine and allow to come to full operating temperature. Check EGR system for proper operation.
