1983 MODELS
1. Remove carburetor from engine and clamp in a suitable fixture with mixture screws facing up.
2. Drill a 5/64 inch pilot hole in side of casting around each mixture screw at a 45° angle toward concealment plugs, Fig. 17, then redrill hole to 1/8 inch.
3. Drive out concealment plugs with a blunt punch. Repeat procedure on opposite side.
4. Reinstall carburetor on engine, using a new base gasket.
