Electric Assist Choke Servicing & Testing

Use caution when removing the choke thermostat not to lose the plastic bushing located between the thermostat loop and pin. The loop and bushing must be placed over the pin during assembly. Choke assembly removal is not required during normal service. The choke assembly should never be immersed in fluid as damage to the internal switch and heater assembly may result.

1. Ensure engine is cold and choke linkage is properly adjusted.
2. Disconnect the B+ terminal connector at the choke coil.
3. Using suitable jumper cable, apply battery voltage to the B+ terminal.
4. The choke valve should reach the full open position within five minutes when the vehicle is parked in a garage. Replace assembly as required. Engine operation of any type, including idling should be avoided if there is any loss of choke power.
