Repair Procedure

FIGURE 1:

Installation

1. Carefully remove and save secondary throttle return spring (Figure 1). Remove vacuum line from solekicker.

2. Remove solekicker from carburetor, use a 11 mm socket wrench.

FIGURE 2:

3. Check the stroke identification number on the top of the idle rpm adjusting screw on the removed solekicker (it will be stamped "4" or "55") (Figure 2).

Select and install the replacement solekicker package having the corresponding stroke number ("4" or "55") on the top of the solekicker rpm adjusting screw.

4. Remove and save the wire guide loop from carburetor and nylon solekicker vacuum line. Cut tie wraps and remove protective convoluted tubing from carburetor wiring (Figure 3).
5. Remove the violet colored throttle ground wire (N3 circuit) from the carburetor connector.

FIGURE 4:

6. Remove the double crimped (J2 circuit) red and tan wires from the carburetor connector. Cut off the red wire as close to the blade terminal as possible without damaging the tan wire (Figure 4).
NOTE: RAMPAGE/SCAMP (T-110) TRUCKS WITH FEDERAL EMISSIONS WILL NOT BE EQUIPPED WITH THE TAN WIRE. USE PROCEDURE OUTLINED BELOW.

RAMPAGE/SCAMP (T-110) WITHOUT O2 SYSTEM - REMOVE THE RED (J2 CIRCUIT) WIRE FROM THE CARBURETOR CONNECTOR.

ON THE NEW SOLEKICKER, CUT THE RED JUMPER WIRE AND SINGLE TERMINAL CONNECTOR OFF AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO THE DOUBLE CRIMPED CONNECTION WITH THE RED WIRE. BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THE WIRE LEADING TO THE SOLEKICKER. INSERT THE RED WIRE FROM THE NEW SOLEKICKER INTO THE VACATED CAVITY IN THE CARBURETOR CONNECTOR (FIGURE 4 INSERT).

7. Install Insulator, PN 4124686, from parts package on bare blade of tan wire (if carburetor has O2 feedback) removed from carburetor connector in Step 6 above and connect to mating insulator on red jumper wire from new solekicker (Figure 4).

8. Insert bare blade terminal on double crimped red wires of new solekicker into vacated cavity in carburetor connector (Figure 4).

9. Insert bare blade on violet wire (N3 circuit) of new solekicker into vacated cavity in carburetor connector (Figure 4).
10. Reinsert wires and vacuum line through wire guide loop and reinstall wire guide loop on carburetor.

11. Reinstall protective convoluted tubing over, wiring, leaving added single connectors outside the convolute.

FIGURE 3:

12. Fold the single connector back along the convoluted tubing and tie wrap in place using one tie wrap from package. Trim off excess length of tie wrap (Figure 3).
13. Install the second tie wrap from package over the larger diameter convoluted tubing adjacent to the wire guide loop. Trim off excess length of tie wrap.

14. Reconnect carburetor wiring to wiring harness and vacuum line to solekicker.

15. Carefully reinstall secondary throttle return spring on lever and grooved stud which is also the solekicker bracket retaining screw.

16. Apply a thin film of Multi-Purpose Grease, PN 4318063, or Hi-Temp Grease, PN 4318064, to surface of solekicker terminal which contacts throttle lever.

17. Start engine and allow to fully warm up. Adjust curb idle speed to VECI label specification.
