Units with a solenoid bowl vent diaphragm should be tested by removing hose and applying an auxiliary vacuum source of at least 15 inches of Mercury to diaphragm, Fig. 15. Viewed through air horn vent tube, valve should move down when vacuum is applied; if it does not, replace leaking diaphragm assembly. Turn ignition switch on and remove auxiliary vacuum source. Valve should remain in down position; if it does not, solenoid or related wiring is defective.
