Fig. 5 Fuel line, heater hose & accelerator cable connector locations:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Scribe hood hinge locations and remove hood.
3. Drain cooling system, then disconnect coolant hoses from radiator and engine.
4. Remove radiator and fan assembly, then the air cleaner and hoses.
Fig. 18 Alternator & A/C compressor mounting bracket removal:
5. On models equipped with A/C, unfasten A/C compressor and position aside, leaving refrigerant hoses attached.
6. On models equipped with power steering, unfasten power steering pump and position aside.
7. On all models, drain oil pan and remove oil filter.
8. Disconnect electrical connectors from alternator, carburetor/throttle body and engine.
9. Disconnect fuel line, heater hose and accelerator cable.
10. On models equipped with manual transaxle, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect clutch cable.
b. Remove transaxle case lower cover.
c. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
d. Unfasten starter motor and position aside.
11. On models equipped with automatic transaxle, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
b. Unfasten starter motor and position aside.
c. Remove transaxle case lower cover, then mark flex plate to torque converter for assembly reference.
d. Remove torque converter-to-flex plate attaching bolts.
12. On all models, install a suitable transaxle holding fixture and attach a suitable lifting device.
13. Remove right side inner splash shield, then disconnect ground strap.
14. Remove long bolt through yoke bracket and insulator. If yoke screws are to be removed, mark position on side rail for assembly reference.
15. Remove transaxle case-to-cylinder block attaching bolts.
16. Remove front engine mount screw and nut.
Engine anti-roll strut (Manual Transmission Only):
17. On models equipped with manual transaxle, proceed as follows:
a. Remove anti-roll strut.
b. Remove insulator through bolt from inside wheel housing or the insulator bracket-to-transaxle attaching bolts.
