Open throttle, close choke, then close throttle to trap fast idle cam at closed choke position. Apply approximately 15 inches of vacuum to diaphragm with an external vacuum source, Fig. 6. Apply closing pressure on choke lever to completely compress spring in diaphragm stem without distorting linkage. The cylindrical stem of the diaphragm extends to a stop as the spring compresses. Insert specified gauge between top of choke valve and air horn wall. On 1985-86 models, adjust by bending diaphragm link at U-bend. On 1983-84 models, adjust by inserting a 5/64 inch allen wrench into diaphragm and turning as necessary. Check for free movement between the open and adjusted positions.
