Idle RPM Adjustment

Before checking or adjusting any idle speed, check ignition timing and adjust.
1. Set parking brake and place transaxle in neutral. Turn off all lights and accessories. Disconnect radiator fan. Connect tachometer to engine.
2. Start and run engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
3. Disconnect cooling fan. Open throttle and allow engine to run at 2500 RPM for 10 seconds. Return engine to idle.
4. Wait 2 minutes and read RPM indicated on tachometer. If RPM is not the same as that specified, turn adjusting screw until correct RPM is obtained. Refer to Fig. 1.
5. On air conditioned models, set temperature control lever to coldest position and turn on air conditioning. With air compressor running, set engine speed to 900 RPM by turning idle up screw. Refer to Fig. 2.
6. Turn off engine, reconnect cooling fan, and disconnect tachometer.
