DR-1B Output Circuits of ECM Controlled Components

1. Connect diagnostic readout box to engine harness connector.
2. Put system into ATM test mode.
3. Press and hold the ATM button until first test code appears.
4. Test code 91:
a. If oxygen solenoid is clicking, press and hold ATM button until next code appears.
b. If oxygen solenoid is not clicking, replace solenoid.
5. Test Code 92 (manual transmission):
a. If shift indicator light is blinking, press and hold ATM button until next code appears.
b. If shift indicator light is not blinking, repair circuit as necessary.
6. Test Code 92 (automatic transmission):
a. If transmission unlock relay clicks, proceed to Step C.
b. If transmission unlock relay does not click, replace relay.
7. Test Code 93:
a. If air switching solenoid is clicking, press and hold ATM button until next code appears.
b. If air switching solenoid does not click, replace it.
8. Test Code 97:
a. If throttle control solenoid is moving in and out, press and hold ATM button until next code appears.
b. If throttle control solenoid is not moving in and out, replace solenoid.
9. Test Code 98:
a. If canister purge solenoid is clicking, turn ignition Off. If vehicle has a cold problem proceed to Test 12, or Test 19 if a warm problem.
b. If canister purge solenoid does not click, replace solenoid.
