Evaporative Emissions System: Testing and Inspection



PURGE CONTROL VALVE
1. Start engine and allow coolant to reach 176-194°F. Shut engine off.
2. Disconnect purge hose from air cleaner and blow into hose. Resistance should be present in hose.
3. Start engine and increase engine speed to approximately 1750 RPM, then blow into purge hose. The purge valve should be fully open. If not, check for clogged or defective vacuum hose or thermo valve. Replace, if necessary.
