The coolant vacuum switch five port, Fig. 14, is used on 1987 models with the V8-360 engine. This coolant vacuum switch combines the functions of the coolant controlled engine vacuum switch (CCEVS) and the coolant vacuum switch three port (CVS3P). The two port side of the switch is used to supply vacuum to the EGR valve at temperatures above 150°F. The three port side of the valve traps manifold vacuum to the distributor at temperatures below 150°F to ensure full spark advance at idle. At temperatures above 150°F, the three port side of the switch allows the thermal ignition distributor control valve (TIDC)Fig. 15, to control vacuum to the distributor.
