Before checking or adjusting any idle speed, check ignition timing and adjust.
1. Set parking brake and place transaxle in neutral. Turn off all lights and accessories. Connect tachometer to engine.
2. Start and run engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
3. Disconnect and plug vacuum advance hose at distributor. Disconnect radiator fan.
4. Open throttle slightly and install tool C-4812-2C on choke cam follower pin Refer to Figs. 3 & 4.
5. Release throttle lever and adjust fast idle speed to specification. Refer to Fig. 5.
6. Remove tool. Turn off engine, reconnect fan, unplug and reconnect vacuum advance hose, and remove tachometer.
