Subject: Customer Satisfaction Notification #252T-- Excess Glycol Engine Coolant

Models: 1987 Dodge Ram and Dakota Pickup Trucks (Build dates 1/5/87 through 1/21/87)

Dodge Ram and Dakota pickup trucks built during the period shown above received engine coolant fill containing excess glycol. Possible consequences, compared to the specified 50/50 water/glycol mixture, include reduced freeze protection, higher engine temperatures, pre-ignition and possible engine damage.

To prevent such conditions from occurring, involved vehicles require draining off some of the original mixture and replacing it with a 50/50 glycol/water mix.

Important: Be sure that all affected vehicles in dealer stock receive this service before retail deliverery.

Details of this service action are explained in the following sections. As an additional service aid, a videotape has been made to demonstrate the repair procedure. This feature will be included with the June, 1987 M.T.S.C.. program.
