Counter Shaft Assembly:

DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY

1. Remove counter shaft center bearing from the counter shaft using special tool MD998359 or equivalent. Using a hydraulic press, place tool and counter shaft onto the press bed and push the counter shaft out of the tapered roller bearing inner race. Do not allow the shaft to drop on the floor.

Counter Shaft Front Bearing Removal:

2. Removal of the tapered roller bearing from the end of the counter shaft gear requires the use of a special tool, Number MD998359 or equivalent. Place tool and counter shaft onto a hydraulic press and press the shaft end out of the tapered roller bearing inner race. Do not allow the shaft to drop on the floor.

Counter Shaft Front Bearing Installation:

3. The counter front bearing and counter center bearing are pressed onto the counter shaft, using a suitable tool, (see illustration) a piece of steel pipe.
4. Set the steel pipe so that it presses on the inner bearing race only and does not contact the bearing cage or the counter shaft bearing surface. Press bearings onto the counter shaft, using a hydraulic press.
