Float Level External Check

Float Level Check:

1. Remove the air cleaner assembly, and plug the disconnected vacuum hoses.
2. With the engine idling and the choke wide open, insert a float gauge C-4900 or equivalent in the vent hole allowing the gauge to float freely.
NOTE: Do not apply pressure in a downward manner to the float gauge. Downward pressure may cause flooding or float damage.
3. Observe the mark on the float gauge as it lines up with the top of the casting. The reading should be within 1.58 mm (2/32 in.) plus or minus of the specified float level setting, refer to SPECIFICATIONS for correct level based upon carburetor number.
4. If the float level is not as specified proceed with the float level adjustment.
