Air Door Cable: Service and Repair
Removal1. Remove steering column cover from left lower instrument panel.
2. Remove lower reinforcement from below steering column.
3. Remove right side cowl and sill trim.
4. Remove bolt attaching right side instrument panel to right cowl.
5. Loosen two brackets supporting lower edge of instrument panel to A/C and heater or heater housing.
Instrument Panel Assembly:
6. Remove the instrument panel trim moulding from the right side dash panel.
7. Remove the nine screws that attach the lower instrument panel to the upper instrument panel.
8. Carefully pull the right side of lower instrument panel rearward until it reaches passenger seat.
9. Locate temperature control cable on heater-a/c unit. Depress tab on flag and remove flag from retainer.
10. Remove trim bezel from heater-a/c control panel.
11. Remove the heater-a/c control panel attaching screws and pull the control panel carefully from the dash.
Temperature Control Panel And Cable:
12. Depress tab on flag and remove flag from retainer.
13. Unhook temperature control cable from temperature control lever.
14. Remove temperature control cable from dash.
Installation
Temperature Control Panel And Cable:
1. Hook temperature control cable over end of temperature control lever and push flag into the retainer until it clicks into place.
2. Hook self adjusting clip onto end of temperature control cable (if previously removed).
3. Push flag into the retainer until it clicks into place.
4. Adjust temperature control cable. Adjustments
Instrument Panel Assembly:
5. Position the right lower instrument panel and attach with 9 screws through the upper instrument panel and one bolt in the right side cowl.
6. Reinstall instrument panel trim moulding.
7. Reattach all previously removed dash wiring.
8. Install steering column reinforcement, lower steering column cover and right cowl and sill trim panels.
