Subject: Extended Warranty Notification -- Infinity Speakers


Models: 1988 Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager Equipped With Infinity Audio System


An extended warranty coverage program is being implemented for failure of the tweeter bracket ribs on the liftgate mounted Infinity speakers in 1988 Caravan and Voyager vehicles. Warranty Bulletin No. D-89-24 which documents this extended coverage will be mailed in about one week.


Owners of affected vehicles will be notified of the extended warranty coverage shortly after publication of the Warranty Bulletin. A copy of the owner notification letter is attached for your information.


This action is necessary because tests indicate that some speakers may not meet our liftgate slam requirements.


The extended warranty service applies up to a limit of 5 years or 50,000 miles. For involved owners requesting service due to failure of an Infinity liftgate mounted speaker, dealers are to provide free replacementof both speakers.


For reimbursement, use the following labor operation number and time allowance:

08-60-70-90 Replace two liftgate mounted 0.3 Hours
Infinity speakers, 1988 Dodge
Caravan or Plymouth Voyager

(Broken or cracked)

Add the dealer markup on purchased parts and identify the claim as "Infinity Speaker Extended Warranty."
