PARTS REQUIRED

Map Sensor Relocation Kit PN 4419451

Consisting of:

1 Map Sensor Bracket
1 Jumper Harness
1 Vacuum Hose
1 Manifold Vacuum Connector
3 Tie Wrap
1 Authorized Modification Label

REPAIR PROCEDURE

This repair involves the relocation of the map sensor to the alternator bracket, and the installation of a new manifold vacuum connecter and vacuum line.

1. Locate the manifold vacuum connector on the right side of intake manifold. Replace it with the new manifold vacuum connector supplied. Be certain that the two smaller vacuum connections end up in a horizontal position.

2. Remove the map sensor from the bracket at its present location (right shock tower on the C-body and on the dash panel behind the engine on the S-body). Disconnect the electrical connector and vacuum line connected to the map sensor. Remove and discard the map sensor bracket on the C-body, but do not remove bracket on the S-body.

3. Install the new map sensor bracket by loosening the bolt located on the front of the alternator bracket and slipping the new map sensor bracket behind the bolt head. Tighten the bolt to 220 in.lbs. (see illustrations).

4. Install the map sensor on the new map sensor bracket using the original screws.

5. Remove and discard the existing vacuum line assembly serving the old map sensor location. Using the new vacuum hose supplied, connect it between the vacuum nipple on the intake manifold and nipple of the map sensor (see illustration).

6. Using the jumper harness supplied, connect the map sensor to the wiring harness connector. Route and tie-wrap as shown in the illustrations.

On the C-body the jumper harness is to be secured with tie-wraps to the underhood wiring harness and the right motor mount.

On the S-body the jumper harness is to be secured with tie-wraps to the alternator and the original map sensor bracket.

7. Type "This Vehicle Has Been Modified With Relocation of the Map Sensor" on the Authorized Modification Label (PN 4275086) and place near the existing VECI label.
