SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Second and third gear jump out or no second or third gear engagement may be the result of a failed 2-3 thrust washer snap ring.
PARTS REQUIRED
1 Second/Third Thrust Washer Snap Ring *PN 6033348
*WARNING: REGARDLESS OF THE REASON FOR DISASSEMBLY OF THE TRANSAXLE, NEVER REUSE THIS SNAP RING. IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE DISCARDED AND A NEW ONE INSTALLED AT TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
This procedure involves removal, installation, disassembly, and assembly of the manual transaxle gear set.
1. Remove transaxle gear set from vehicle, using appropriate service manual.

2. Disassemble intermediate shaft as shown in Figures 1 and 2. Verify that snap ring is not in proper position, deformed, over expanded, or missing.
3. If the snap ring is missing, the transaxle should be removed, disassembled, and each component inspected for damage.
4. Replace snap ring with PN 6033348.
NOTE: EXTREME CARE MUST BE EXERCISED WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW SNAP RING TO BE SURE THAT IT IS SEATED COMPLETELY IN ITS GROOVE, AND THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN OVER EXPANDED DURING INSTALLATION.
5. Reassemble gear set and install in vehicle.
