A Testing Brake Switch Circuit

1. Connect diagnostic readout box to the engine harness connector and select test "Read Input States," then choose "Brake Switch Input."
2. Turn ignition key to On position, then press and release brake pedal several times.
3. If diagnostic readout box reads input high then low, proceed to Step B.
4. If diagnostic readout box does not read input high then low, disconnect engine controller 60-way connector and proceed as follows:
a. Inspect cavity 29 of 60-way connector for properly installed white/pink wire, repair the connector as necessary and re-test.
b. If cavity 29 of 60-way connector is satisfactory, test resistance to ground of cavity 29.
c. If cavity 29 has under 20 ohms, replace engine controller.
d. If cavity 29 is not under 20 ohms, test white/pink wire at brake switch for resistance to ground.
e. If white/pink wire has under 20 ohms, repair open circuit of white/pink wire between brake switch and controller.
f. If white/pink wire is not under 20 ohms, test white wire at brake switch connector for resistance to ground.
g. If white wire has under 20 ohms, check brake switch adjustment. If adjustment is satisfactory, replace brake switch. If not satisfactory, adjust switch as necessary.
h. If white wire is not under 20 ohms, repair open circuit of white wire through stop lamps to ground.
