1987-88
Refer to Fig. 10 for disassembly and assembly of 1987-88 feedback carburetors.
1. Remove throttle return spring and bracket, damper spring, throttle opener/dashpot, and bracket.
2. Remove vacuum delay valve and its hoses, then gently pry off the float chamber cover.
3. Remove mixing body and throttle body assembly.
4. Remove pin, float, needle valve, and needle valve seat. Do not apply a collapsing load to float or let float drop. Ensure that float chamber cover is not damaged when needle valve seat is pushed up. Use flat blade screwdrivers to pry up needle valve seat.
5. Disconnect electrical connections using a screwdriver to push the stopper portion and remove the terminals from behind connector, then remove the feedback solenoid valve and slow cut solenoid valve.
6. Grind away the heads of rivets retaining the bimetal assembly, then remove the retaining screw. Remove the plate and the bimetal assembly, then remove rivet bodies using a pin punch. Disconnect electrical connection using a screwdriver to push the stopper portion and remove the terminal.
7. Remove springs, spring seat, diaphragms, body, and valve (31-38).
8. Remove mixture control valve assembly.
9. Remove gasket, springs, covers, diaphragms, and bodies (40-51).
10. Remove main air jet, primary and secondary pilot jets. Ensure that screwdriver used for removal is an exact fit to avoid damage.
11. Remove float chamber cover, then the steel ball, weight, ball (59), plug, ball (61), screw, and gasket.
12. Remove primary and secondary main jets. Ensure that screwdriver used for removal is an exact fit to avoid damage.
13. Do not remove or disassemble parts 66-78. The screws that attach the enrichment valve, accelerator pump, and auxiliary pump are coated with adhesive prior top their assmebly to the main body. Any attempt at removing these screws may lead to screw damage, making component reinstallation impossible. The above mentioned parts should be replaced, if necessary, as an assembly.
14. Remove vacuum hose and depression chamber.
15. Remove throttle position sensor.
16. Remove lever, adjusting screw, throtle lever, cam follower, fast idle adjusting screw and free lever.
17. Remove abutment plate, idle speed adjusting screw (SAS-2), spring, secondary lever, and idle speed adjusting screw (SAS-1).
18. Remove plug and mixture adjusting screw, then the throttle body.
