Assembly
ASSEMBLING CARBURETOR
(1) If the entire choke assembly was removed, position it on the carburetor and install the three retaining screws. If the choke diaphragm was serviced rotate the choke shaft counter-clockwise. Insert the diaphragm with a clockwise motion (Fig. 15). Position spring and cover over diaphragm and install the retaining screws. Make certain the fast idle link has been installed properly.
(2) Install accelerator pump spring, diaphragm cover and screws (Fig. 13).
(3) Install accelerator pump discharge check ball in discharge passage. Check accelerator and seat prior to assembly by filling the fuel bowl with clean fuel. Hold discharge check ball down with a small brass rod and operate pump plunger by hand. If the check ball and seat are leaking, no resistance will be experienced when operating plunger. If seat is leaking, stake seat using old check ball and a suitable drift punch. Exercise care when staking seat to avoid damaging bore containing the pump weight. After staking old ball, remove and replace with new ball from tune-up kit. Install weight ball and recheck for leaks.
(4) Install new gaskets, discharge nozzle and screw (Fig. 12).
(5) Install primary main well tube and primary high speed bleed (Fig. 11). Be sure the correct size is installed in the proper position.
(6) Install secondary main well tube and secondary high speed bleed (Fig. 11). Be sure the correct size is installed in the proper position.
(7) Install primary main metering jet (on this carburetor the primary main metering jet will have a smaller number stamped on it than the secondary main metering jet) (Fig. 10).
(8) Install secondary main metering jet (on this carburetor the secondary main metering jet will have a larger number stamped on it than the primary main metering jet) (Fig 10).
(9) Install needle and set assembly (Fig. 9).
(10) Invert air horn and insert gauge or drill 12.7mm (.500") (Fig. 16) between air horn and float.
(11) Using a small screwdriver bend tang to adjust dry float level (Fig 17).
(12) Position depth gauge (Fig. 18) and check float drop.
(13) Using a small screwdriver (Fig. 19) bend tang to adjust float drop to 47.6mm (1 7/8").
(14) Position new gasket on air horn; install choke rod seal and choke operating rod.
(15) Carefully locate air horn to carburetor. Install new choke operating rod retainers on choke shalt lever and fast idle cam pickup lever and connect choke operating rod.
(16) Install and tighten the5 airhorn to carburetor body screws evenly in stages to 3 N.m (30 inch-pounds).
(17) Install solekicker and tighten screws.
(18) Position a new 02 feedback solenoid gasket on the air horn. Install new "0" ring seal on 0 feedback solenoid (Fig. 20). Lubricate lightly with white grease and carefully install solenoid into carburetor. Install and tighten mounting screws securely. Route wiring through clamp.
(19) Install vacuum secondary control diaphragm.
(20) Install vacuum secondary control solenoid.
(21) Install and tighten wire clip mounting screw.
