CONVERSION PROCEDURE

To improve the above altitude-related condition, the basic timing must be advanced an additional 5~. The correct timing specifications are shown in Figure 1. On vehicles not so equipped, an altitude compensator must be installed to prevent an over-rich condition from occurring.

1. Using the procedure outlined in the appropriate service manual, reset basic timing to the following specifications.

2. Install a dual diaphragm vacuum advance assembly supplied in package as outlined in the appropriate service manual.

3. Install the high altitude compensator (HAC) on device box (solenoid controller) in engine compartment, using two bolt and washer assemblies supplied as shown in Figure 2.

4. Using the appropriate attached diagram, install the vacuum harness assembly supplied in package, and connect hoses to carburetor, HAC (high altitude compensator), and distributor.

NOTE: WHEN INSTALLING THE VACUUM HARNESS, YOU WILL USE THE EXISTING DISTRIBUTOR VACUUM SUPPLY HOSE ALONG WITH THE NEW VACUUM HARNESS TO CONNECT TO THE DUAL DIAPHRAGM DISTRIBUTOR INSTALLED PREVIOUSLY. ALL CONNECTIONS ARE IDENTIFIED WITH COLOR CODING AND ARE ILLUSTRATED ON DIAGRAMS PROVIDED.
