Main Drive Gear Assembly

Main Drive Gear Service:






DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY

Bearing Removal:





1. Remove main drive gear snap ring.
2. Using special tool, (MD998020) or equivalent, pull ball bearing from main drive gear.

NOTE: Snap ring is selective in thickness, do not discard.

Bearing Installation:





3. Using special tool, (MD998029) or equivalent, slide ball bearing over main drive gear shaft and with the special tool press bearing in by means of a hammer or a press.

Snap Ring Installation:





4. Select and install main drive gear snap ring allowing for minimum clearance between snap ring and bearing. When selecting a snap ring, use the thickest allowable. For snap ring thickness chart, see GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS under MITSUBISHI KM145. Standard allowable clearance between snap ring and bearing is:

0-0.002 in. (0-0.06 mm)
