Carburetor Cleaning and Inspection
NOTE: Metal carburetor parts should be cleaned in an immersion type cleaner such as carbon X or its equivalent. Electric solenoids, rubber parts, diaphragms, plastic parts, accelerator pump plungers, pump seals, and other soft parts, should not be placed in an immersion type cleaner, since they will swell, harden, and distort. Always rinse cleaned parts thoroughly, with hot water.1. After thorough cleaning of metal parts, carefully blow parts dry with shop air. Make sure passages, and metering parts are free of burrs and contamination. Do not pass drills or wire through passages or jets as distortion may occur.
2. Inspect all carburetor sealing surfaces and castings for damage or wear. Inspect holes in levers for excessive wear or out of round conditions. If worn, levers should be replaced.
3. Inspect plastic parts for cracks, damage, and excessive wear, replace any parts that appear substandard.
