Throttle Body Replacement

REMOVAL

Throttle Body Service:





1. Fuel system pressure release must be performed prior to service. Service and Repair
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal, and remove air cleaner.
3. Disconnect the following vacuum and fuel hoses:
^ Diverter valve vacuum hose
^ Canister purge vacuum hose
^ PCV vacuum hose
^ Fuel inlet hose
^ Fuel return hose

4. Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
^ Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
^ Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor
^ Idle Speed Control (ISC) actuator
^ Injector Harness
^ Throttle Body Temperature sensor

5. Remove the throttle return spring.
6. Remove throttle cable. Service and Repair
7. If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission and/or speed control, remove the kick-down and speed control cables.
8. Remove throttle body mounting bolts and lift throttle body off of intake manifold.





INSTALLATION

Throttle Body Assembly:





1. Clean the throttle body mounting surface on the intake manifold.
2. Using a new gasket, install the throttle body onto the intake manifold, and tighten the mounting bolts to 175 lb-in (20 Nm).
3. Connect the following vacuum and fuel hoses:
^ Diverter valve vacuum hose
^ Canister purge vacuum hose
^ PCV vacuum hose
^ Fuel inlet hose
^ Fuel return hose

4. Connect the following electrical connectors:
^ Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
^ Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor
^ Idle Speed Control (ISC) actuator
^ Injector Harness
^ Throttle Body Temperature sensor

5. Reconnect the throttle return spring.
6. Attach throttle cable. Service and Repair
7. If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission and/or speed control, install the kick-down and speed control cables.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Perform fuel system pressure test to check for leaks. Fuel System Diagnosis
10. Install the air cleaner assembly.
