Starts and Dies

Definition: Engine starts, idles up, and then dies.
POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
EGR system on at start up Check solenoid for proper operation.

Choke vacuum kick set too wide Check and adjust as needed. Choke Breaker and Unloader Opening Adjustment

Vacuum leak Inspect vacuum hoses for proper routing and damaged lines
Check intake manifold, carburetor base etc.

Fast idle malfunction or misadjustment Check adjustment and operation. Fast Idle Adjustment

Incorrect float level Check and adjust as needed.

Inadequate fuel supply Check pump output.
