Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems: Description and Operation
Fig. 1 Component Locations:
The rear anti-lock brake system prevents rear wheel lock-up by monitoring wheel speed and altering pressure to the rear wheels. This is accomplished using a speed sensor, electronic brake control module and dual solenoid hydraulic valve.
If a malfunction occurs, the rear anti-lock system is divided into two systems electric and hydraulic. When a fault due to electric system occurs, the control unit which has self-check function will give a signal by a warning light and at the same time show where the fault is by self diagnosis function. When a fault due to hydraulic system occurs, check if its either due to fault of the component of normal brake wear or part modulator related to rear anti-lock braking system.
