Fuel Pressure Test

Fuel Pump Location:





INSPECTION:
1. Checking Leakage: If there are oil or fuel leaks from breather hole, oil seal or diaphragm of the fuel pump, the pump is defective. Replace fuel pump as an assembly. Service and Repair
2. Inlet Valve Test: To test the inlet valve, connect a vacuum gauge on the inlet fitting while the line is disconnected. START or turn over the engine with the starter motor. There should be a noticeable vacuum present. If blow back is present, the inlet valve is not seating properly.
3. If the fuel pump does not perform to above test requirements, a new fuel pump should be installed. Service and Repair

PRESSURE TEST:
1. Disconnect the hose at the carburetor and connect a fuel pressure gauge.

Fuel Pump Pressure Test:





2. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the pump and plug the fuel pump return pipe as shown in illustration.
3. Check pressure while the engine is running.

Pressure at 1,250 RPM: 2.76-3.63 psi
(0.19-0.26 kg/cm.sq.)

4. Replace the pump, if pressure is not up to specifications. Service and Repair

FUEL FLOW RATE TEST (Volume):

Fuel Pump Flow Rate Test:





1. Disconnect the carburetor fuel hose and insert the end into a suitable .
2. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel pump and plug the fuel pump return pipe.
3. Start the engine and measure the amount of fuel pumped in one minute.

Volume at 1,250 RPM: 0.85 U.S. qt
