Ignition System: Description and Operation
The
Ignition System is made up of, a
distributor with a magnetic pick-up/
igniter and signal rotor,
ignition resistor, and
ignition coil. The signal rotor rotates in the distributor and triggers the magnetic pick-up/igniter which amplifies the signal. The amplified trigger signal is then used to trigger the ignition coil. Conventional centrifugal and vacuum advance systems combine to control the ignition advance curve.
