Oil Pump: Service and Repair

NOTE: Oil pan must be removed prior to removing oil pump.

Fig. 9 Oil Pan & Pump Replacement:

1. Remove oil pan and pump in numbered sequence shown.
2. Inspect oil pump case for damage and cracks.

3. Check oil pump rotor to body clearance.
Body Clearance 0.0039-0.0071 in
Side Clearance 0.0016-0.0037 in

3. Install oil pump and pan in reverse numbered sequence shown, noting the following:
a. Install oil pump case bolts in correct location.
b. Install crankshaft front oil seal using seal installer tool No. MD998717 or equivalent.

c. Apply sealant on oil pan as shown, not allowing sealant to ooze on area shown as A.
