Lack of Power, Sluggish

Definition: Engine delivers less than expected power. Little or no increase in speed, when accelerator pedal is pushed down part way.
POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
Contaminated fuel ^ Check for water or excessive alcohol in fuel. Alcohol In Fuel Test
^ Drain fuel tank and add clean fuel

Lead contamination of catalytic converter ^ Check for missing fill pipe restrictor
^ Replace catalytic converter

Low fuel pressure Check fuel pressure. Fuel System Diagnosis

Pinched or collapsed fuel hose/line Repair/replace as required

Throttle valve not fully opening Check accelerator pedal travel, (floor mat/carpet interference) check throttle cable adjustment

Throttle body deposits Clean throttle body.

Dirty air filter Clean or replace filter
