11 Checking For System Faults
Perform No Start Test 1, before proceeding.
1. Connect diagnostic readout box to engine harness connector.
2. Turn ignition switch to Run position.
3. If display has a blank screen, go to Obtaining Faults Or Messages section.
4. If display shows ``No Response,'' proceed to Test 12.
5. If display does not show a blank screen or a ``No Response,'' select model year 1989, select system engines and with read out box select ``Read Fault Data.''
6. If display is displaying ``No Faults,'' proceed to Test 16.
7. If display is displaying fault messages, proceed as follows:
a. All three faults, ``Voltage High,'' ``T/B Temp'' and ``TPS'', repair black/light blue wire in cavity 4 of SMEC 60-way connector for an open circuit, then proceed to Test 17.
b. An ``Ignition Reference Signal,'' proceed to Test 13.
c. ``ASD Relay Circuit,'' proceed to Test 14.
d. ``FJ2 Voltage Sense,'' proceed to Test 15.
e. ``MAP Pneumatic Change'' and ``MAP Voltage Too High,'' proceed to Test 16.
f. ``No Faults,'' proceed to Test 16.
