Seat Belt Systems: Description and Operation

Ram Van and Wagon shoulder belts and lap belts have end-release type buckles. Each buckle has a red release button with the word PRESS embossed on the end to indicate the location and the method of operation. When depressed, the release button moves in a direction that is in-line with the belt webbing.

The method of operation and the means for attaching the shoulder belts, lap belts and buckles to the body panels and seat frames should not be altered in any way.

WARNING: WHEN INSTALLING SHOULDER BELT, LAP BELT AND BUCKLE ANCHOR BOLTS, ENSURE THAT THEY ARE TIGHTENED WITH 40 NM (350 IN. LBS.) TORQUE FOR SAFE ANCHORING TO THE BODY PANELS AND SEAT FRAMES.
