To: All Dodge and Chrysler-Plymouth Dealers
Subject: Safety, Recall # 467 Cylinder Head Cover Gasket
Models: 1989 and Early Built 1990 Passenger Cars and Trucks Equipped With 2.2L & 2.5L EFI (Non-Turbo) Engines:

The cylinder head cover gasket on the listed vehicles may dislocate and allow engine oil to leak. Depending on the location and size of the leak, an engine compartment fire could result.
To prevent this condition, dealers are to install a revised cylinder head cover and silicone rubber adhesive sealant (RTV) in place of the present valve cover and gasket.
Important: Some of the involved vehicles may still be in dealer stock. Be sure to complete the service on them before retail delivery.
Owner notifications will be mailed in stages as sufficient parts for each stage are received. Owners of the earliest built vehicles will be notified in February. Subsequent notifications, in order of vehicle build date, will follow during the first quarter, 1990. Involved dealers will be informed prior to the subsequent owner mailings.
Details of this service action are explained in the following sections. As an additional service aid, a videotape demonstrating the service procedure is included in the February, 1990 Master Tech program.
