Engine Lubrication: Description and Operation
Engine Oiling:
The lubrication system is a full flow filtration pressure feed type. Oil from the oil pan is pumped by a internal gear type oil pump directly coupled to the crankshaft. The pressure is regulated by a relief valve. The oil is pumped through an oil filter and feeds a main oil galley. This oil gallery feeds oil under pressure to the main and rod bearings. This gallery also feeds oil under pressure to the cylinder heads. It then flows from a camshaft bearing cap on each cylinder head through passages in the rocker arm pivots, auto lash adjusters, and camshaft journals.
