Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Service and Repair

Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) Motor:





1. Remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Disconnect 4-way Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor electrical connector.
4. Remove the mounting screws (2), and remove the AIS from throttle body, making sure the "O"-ring is still on the AIS motor.
5. Install new AIS motor using a new "O"-ring.
NOTE: If the pintle measures more than 1 in. (25 mm), it must be retracted by using the "AIS motor test" in the actuate output mode of the scan tool. The battery must be reconnected for this procedure. Testing and Inspection
6. Install the retaining screws, torquing them to 17 lb-in (2 Nm).
7. Connect the AIS motor electrical connector.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Install the air cleaner assembly.
