Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Throttle Body:

The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is a rotating type resistor that rotates with the throttle shaft to sense the throttle valve angle. As the throttle shaft rotates, the output voltage of the TPS changes. The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) computes the throttle valve opening based on this voltage change and accordingly corrects fuel injector pulse width to achieve the desired acceleration.
