Sliding Door: Adjustments

Sliding Door Adjustment:

Character line location, gap size, and proper function of hinges and other door systems hardware are required to achieve and maintain optimum appearance and operation of any door.

The best way to adjust the sliding side door for appearance and proper operation is to follow this sequence:

1. Front door to A-pillar and front fender.
a. The gap between the right A-pillar and the right front door must be 6 mm (1/4 in.).
b. The gap between the right fender and the right front door must be 6 mm (1/4 in.).
c. The character lines of both door and fender must match.
d. Adjust the front door as necessary.
2. Sliding side door to front door and quarter panel.
a. The gap between the back of a properly adjusted front door and the front edge of the sliding side door must be 8 mm (5/16 in.) at both top and bottom.
b. The gap between the right quarter panel and the sliding side door must be 6 mm (1/4 in.) at both top and bottom.
c. The character lines of the right fender, right front door, sliding side door, and quarter panel must match.
d. Adjust the sliding side door as necessary. By making sure of the fit and position of all related components, as in the sequence given, the final adjustment of the sliding side door will be easier and more successful.
